What is on a country page
Each country page opens with the site’s current Ramadan 2027 planning date, clearly labelled as a projection, and explains that the recognised local announcement takes precedence. Below it sits the list of cities we hold coordinates for, each linking to its own timetable.
- The projected first fast and the projected end of the month, both labelled as projections rather than confirmed dates.
- The prayer-time calculation convention normally used in that country, and a note that mosques within it may still differ.
- Sehri and Iftar for the country’s main city, with a live countdown to whichever comes next.
- The time zone in use, and daylight saving where the country observes it.
- Every city we hold coordinates for, in a searchable list.
- Where we have researched it, a note on how Ramadan is actually observed there — how the start is announced, and what the month looks like locally.
What is on a city page
A city page is built around that city’s own numbers rather than a generic Ramadan article. It carries the day-by-day month table, then interprets the data: Day 1, 15, 29 and 30 checkpoints, how Sehri and Iftar move through the month, the shortest and longest calculated fast, the city’s time-zone behaviour and a comparison with nearby cities. The prayer timetable and downloads use the same coordinates. A Lahore calendar is therefore different from Karachi not only in the table, but in the explanation around it.
Why countries do not all start on the same day
A lunar month begins when the crescent is sighted after sunset on the 29th. The crescent is genuinely easier to see further west on a given evening, and authorities apply different criteria — some accept astronomical calculation, some require a witnessed sighting, some accept only a sighting from within their own territory, and some follow another country’s announcement. A one-day difference between neighbouring countries is normal and is not an error by either of them.
The planning date is not an independent prediction of each country’s official decision. The confirmed date is the one given by the recognised authority or method your community follows. The methodology page explains how the projection is made.
If your city is not listed
Use the prayer time finder, which will calculate times for any coordinates, or the calendar generator to build a full month for a place we do not yet have a page for. If you think a city should be listed, tell us and we will add it.
