Ramadan 2027 Dates

The expected dates

Ramadan 1448 AH is projected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, following the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia. The month will run either 29 or 30 days, so the last fast is expected on or about 8 or 9 March 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on the day after.

Why two possible end dates

A lunar month is never a fixed length. It ends when the crescent of Shawwal is sighted after sunset on the 29th day, and if the crescent is not seen, the month completes thirty days. That is why nobody can state the exact number of fasts in advance. The Prophet said: “Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it; if it is obscured from you, then complete thirty days” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1909; Sahih Muslim 1081).

Why your country may differ by a day

Some countries follow a single central announcement, others accept local sighting reports, and the crescent genuinely becomes visible at different times across the globe on the same evening. A one-day difference between two neighbouring countries is normal and has been discussed by scholars since the report of Kurayb recorded in Sahih Muslim 1087, where Ibn Abbas followed the sighting of his own region rather than that of Syria.

What this means for planning

For booking leave, planning a trip or arranging school and work, treat 8 February 2027 as the working date and expect a possible shift of a day in either direction. Final confirmation usually arrives on the evening of 29 Sha‘ban, which falls on or about 7 February 2027.

On the dates: every date on this page is an astronomical projection based on the Umm al-Qura calendar. The observed start of Ramadan is decided by the sighting of the crescent moon or by the announcement of the relevant authority in each country, and can differ by a day. Follow your local mosque or national committee for the binding date.
