Zakat Calculator — Any World Currency
Zakat Calculator
Works in any world currency. Enter today’s metal prices in that same currency.
How Zakat is calculated
Zakat is 2.5% of the qualifying wealth you have owned for one full lunar year (hawl), provided that wealth is above the nisab threshold. This calculator uses the 87.48 g gold and 612.36 g silver nisab convention. Recognised scholars and Zakat organisations use both gold-based and silver-based thresholds, and some use slightly different gram conversions for the classical measures. The silver threshold is normally lower in cash terms; the gold threshold is normally higher. Choose the basis followed by the scholar or Zakat authority you trust rather than treating either option as universally preferred.
How to use the calculator
- Select your currency from the full ISO list — every figure, including the nisab, is then shown in that currency.
- Enter today’s gold and silver price per gram in the same currency. Local jewellers and financial sites publish these daily.
- Fill in your assets: cash, bank balances, savings, gold and silver by weight, shares, funds, crypto, business stock and recoverable loans.
- Enter debts and bills that are due; they are deducted from the total.
- Read the three result boxes: net zakatable wealth, the nisab threshold and the Zakat due.
What is included and excluded
Included: cash, savings, investment assets, trade goods, and gold and silver in any form. Normally excluded: your home, personal car, furniture, clothing and tools of your trade. Rulings differ on jewellery in regular personal use — follow the position of the school you adhere to.
Method note: the gram weights used by this calculator match the 87.48 g gold / 612.36 g silver convention published by Islamic Relief. Other recognised authorities may convert the classical mithqal and dirham measures to slightly different gram values. This is an educational calculator, not a fatwa. For jewellery, debts, pensions, mixed business assets or shares, follow a qualified scholar or your local Zakat authority.

Frequently asked questions
What is the nisab in my currency?
Enter your currency and today’s metal price per gram; the calculator multiplies 612.36 g (silver) or 87.48 g (gold) by that price and shows the threshold instantly.
Does the calculator convert currencies for me?
No, and this is deliberate: exchange rates change constantly. Enter every figure, including metal prices, in the single currency you have selected so the result is exact.
Is Zakat 2.5% of income or of savings?
Zakat is on accumulated qualifying wealth held for a lunar year, not on income. Income becomes zakatable once it has been held for the hawl period as part of your wealth.
