Editorial Policy

This page sets out the rules the site writes by. They exist so a reader can tell the difference between something established, something calculated and something disputed.

Research standards

Every substantive page is researched against primary or authoritative material before it is written, not assembled from other Ramadan websites. Where a fact is contested, the page says it is contested. Where the site does not know something — such as which night of the last ten will be Laylat al-Qadr — it says so rather than filling the gap.

Source selection

  • For the Qur’an: the Arabic text with surah and verse numbers, and widely used English renderings identified as translations rather than as the text itself.
  • For hadith: the primary collections, cited by collection name and hadith number.
  • For jurisprudence: recognised positions of the established schools, presented as positions rather than as the single answer.
  • For astronomy and time: published solar-position algorithms and the IANA time-zone database.
  • For health: mainstream public-health and clinical guidance.

Religious content

Religious pages are written to inform, not to rule. Three rules apply throughout:

  1. No manufactured quotations. Nothing is presented as a hadith unless it is a hadith with a traceable reference. Popular sayings that circulate as hadith but are not are either excluded or explicitly identified.
  2. No invented numbers or gradings. A hadith number is only given when it is verified. If a reference cannot be confirmed, the item is marked for review or left out — it is never guessed.
  3. No flattening of genuine disagreement. Where the schools of law differ, the page explains that they differ and what the main positions are. It does not pick one and present it as the universal ruling.

Hadith verification

An item enters the site’s hadith material only if the collection and hadith number can be identified, the text is not a paraphrase circulating as a quotation, and the grading is either well established or openly stated as disputed. Weak narrations are permitted where they are clearly labelled weak. Fabricated narrations are not published at all, even to refute them, unless the page is specifically about that misattribution.

Date methodology

Ramadan 1448 AH is projected to begin on 8 February 2027. That date is a calculation, and the site labels it as expected throughout. Ramadan runs either 29 or 30 days; the site never states a fixed number of fasts in advance, because the length is only known when the crescent of Shawwal is sighted or thirty days complete. Countries legitimately begin on different days, and pages say so rather than implying a single global date.

Prayer-time methodology

No calculation method is described as the correct one. Fajr and Isha angles differ between conventions, the two Asr conventions both have a basis, and mosques apply local adjustments on top. The site states which method it used and explains why a local timetable may not match. Details are on the Methodology page.

Health content

Health pages are treated as higher-risk than the rest of the site. They do not tell anyone to start, continue or stop fasting, and they do not tell anyone to change, pause or adjust medication. They avoid blanket safety claims about fasting with any medical condition, because that depends on the person. They point to a qualified healthcare professional for individual decisions, and they say plainly when a symptom means someone should break the fast and seek help.

Corrections

Errors are corrected rather than quietly removed. When a substantive correction is made, the page’s review date is updated. Review dates are only changed when content has actually been reviewed or altered — they are never refreshed to make a page look recent.

Use of AI assistance

Drafting and code work on this site may be produced with AI assistance. That does not lower the standard applied to anything published: references are verified before they appear, religious material is checked against its source, and nothing is published because a tool asserted it. Any material that cannot be verified is removed rather than published with a plausible-looking citation.

Advertising and independence

Calculation results, dates and religious content are never influenced by commercial considerations. No page recommends a product in exchange for payment without saying so.
