Finding the odd nights
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2017). Because the Islamic day begins at sunset, the “27th night” starts after Maghrib on the 26th day — the calculator prints the exact Gregorian evening for each night so there is no confusion.

A note on the 27th
Many companions favoured the 27th night, and Ubayy ibn Ka‘b swore it was that night (Sahih Muslim 762), but the sound position is that it moves — which is why the last ten nights are all sought.
