Fidya Planning Calculator
Fidya Planning Calculator
Multiply a locally supplied fidya amount by the number of days you enter.
Arithmetic only: use the per-day amount published by the authority or charity you follow. This tool does not decide whether fidya, qada or kaffarah applies to your case.
The calculator handles arithmetic only
Enter the number of days and the per-day amount supplied by the recognised charity, mosque or scholarly authority you follow. The tool multiplies those inputs. It does not determine whether your circumstances require fidya, qada, kaffarah or no payment.
Why the amount is not hard-coded
Published cash equivalents vary by place, food basket, organisation and year. Hard-coding one global amount would quickly become misleading. Record the source and currency of the amount you enter before making a payment.
Record the source of the amount
Before calculating, note which mosque, charity or scholarly body published the per-day figure, the year it applies to and the currency. Food prices and institutional policies change, so a saved 2026 figure should not silently become a 2027 recommendation.
Do not convert a legal question into arithmetic
The same number of missed days can lead to different obligations depending on why the fast was missed and whether the inability is temporary or permanent. The calculator deliberately asks only for values the user has already established elsewhere. If a person is able to make up a fast later, a payment field should not be treated as permission to substitute money for qada.
Currency conversion
If paying in another currency, use the receiving organisation’s own payment page or current conversion guidance. The calculator does not fetch exchange rates and therefore does not present a converted figure as an authoritative donation amount.
Worked planning example
If the local authority you follow publishes a fidya figure of 10 units of your currency per day and you have already established that fidya applies for five days, entering 5 and 10 produces a planning total of 50. The arithmetic does not establish the religious liability; it only prevents multiplication errors after the inputs are known.
Keep a payment record
If you pay through an organisation, keep the receipt and the organisation’s description of what the payment covers. Do not assume that a general charity donation has automatically been allocated as fidya.
