Managing Energy While Fasting
Where the dip comes from
Usually three things together: short sleep, caffeine withdrawal and a heavy Iftar the night before. Dehydration adds to all of them.
Practical fixes
- Front-load demanding work into the morning.
- Break tasks into 45-minute blocks with short walks.
- Keep rooms cool and avoid the afternoon sun.
- Taper caffeine before Ramadan rather than quitting on day one.
- Eat a real Suhoor with protein and fat.
Week by week
Days 1–3 are usually the hardest as the body adapts; most people report steadier energy from the second week if sleep and Suhoor are handled well.
Health note: this is general information, not medical advice. If you are pregnant, nursing, elderly, or managing diabetes, kidney disease, blood pressure or any chronic condition, speak to your doctor before Ramadan. Break your fast if you fear harm — Islam requires it.
