How to Worship on Laylat al-Qadr
The one dua to memorise
‘A’ishah asked what to say if she knew the night; he ﷺ taught her: “Allahumma innaka ‘Afuwwun tuhibbu al-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni” (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3513).
A structure for the night
- Isha and Taraweeh in congregation — counted as standing the whole night (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 806).
- Sleep a few hours.
- Qiyam in the last third: long recitation, long sujood.
- Istighfar and personal dua, in any language.
- Sadaqah before Fajr.
- Suhoor and Fajr in congregation.
If you have little time
Even thirty focused minutes of prayer and dua, repeated every odd night, is a serious effort. Consistency beats intensity you cannot sustain.
